Meeting to validate the Council of Traditional Leaders in Africa (COTLA) Framework on the Role of Traditional Leaders in Promoting Adolescent and Young People (AYP) Well-Being & Development in Southern Africa

We are excited to share that on August 14-15, 2024, in Lusaka, Zambia, SRHR Africa Trust (SAT), as a consortium partner, will be participating in a vital Break Free! Programme meeting to validate the Council of Traditional Leaders in Africa (COTLA) Framework. This framework highlights the vital role traditional leaders play in promoting the well-being and development of adolescents and young people in Southern Africa.

In a region where poverty and inequality heavily impact youth, traditional leaders are uniquely positioned to drive positive change. The COTLA Framework provides strategies for these leaders to support youth health, education, and development, ensuring that harmful practices are minimised and young people can thrive.

This meeting will bring together experts, traditional leaders, and young people to refine the framework, ensuring it resonates with the realities on the ground. With the support of SAT’s Break Free! Programme, this framework is set to be a key tool in advancing the rights and well-being of young people across the region.
